Simon Cherry Elected IEEE Fellow
Simon Cherry, professor and acting chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) for contributions to molecular imaging. The IEEE Fellows are an elite group from around the globe who have made outstanding contributions to the electrical and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession.

$10,000 Dickson Emeriti Professorship to Dick Walters, a professor emeritus of computer science and medical informatics. Walters plans to use the money to continue his workshops on teaching, learning and technology, with an emphasis on pedagogy, or the art and science of teaching.
