FALL 2009 COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
December 12, 2009
10:00 a.m. ARC Pavilion
Eligibility
To be eligible for the combined Undergraduate Fall Commencement Ceremony, you must meet the following criteria:
- Your major must be administered by the College of Engineering, College of Biological Sciences, or College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
- Complete 160 units by the end of Spring Quarter 2009
- You must register by October 23, 2009
- Complete all degree requirements by the end of Winter Quarter 2010
Registration to Participate
Students from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the College of Engineering and the College of Biological Sciences who wish to participate in the combined Fall Commencement Ceremony must register online at http://biosci3.ucdavis.edu/Commencement/ (College of Biological Sciences website) by October 23, 2009. Please note that students who are eligible for graduation must also file for candidacy to graduate by October 7, 2009through the Registrar's Office. View the Graduation Checklist for details.
Commencement Program
A commencement program will be printed for the combined Fall Commencement Ceremony. Students must register online at http://biosci3.ucdavis.edu/Commencement/ by October 23, 2009 to have their name appear in the program. Candidates who cannot attend the ceremony may obtain copies of the program by contacting Gail Stroup at 530-754-9666.
Cap and Gown Rental
Caps and gowns can be rented through the Bookstore. For details, please check the Bookstore's frequently asked questions about graduation page.
Admission Tickets
Admission tickets are REQUIRED for each guest at the Fall Commencement Ceremony (including infants and toddlers). Students who have registered to participate online at http://biosci3.ucdavis.edu/Commencement/by the October 23, 2009 deadline will receive up to ten (10) guest tickets for the ceremony. Students who register after the deadline cannot be guaranteed tickets. Tickets will be mailed with a letter of instruction on November 13 to the address the candidate entered on the registration form. Students are urged to return extra tickets to the College of Engineering Dean’s Office at 1050 Kemper Hall.
If space in the ARC Pavilion permits, additional tickets will be made available. An announcement regarding the availability and distribution location of extra tickets will be announced in the letter of instruction that will be mailed on November 16.
University policy prohibits the selling of commencement tickets for money or any commercial value. Violation will result in referral to Student Judicial Affairs.
Assembly of Graduates
Students will assemble in academic dress in the ARC Ballroom by no later than 9:15 a.m. Signs identifying each college will be prominently displayed. When you arrive, go to your college and line up single file. Family members and friends should proceed to the Pavilion at this time.
Conduct During Ceremony
Commencement is a time to celebrate and enjoy your achievement. It is also a time to reflect on that achievement and to acknowledge the help and support provided by family, friends, faculty and staff. You are asked to honor the spirit of this important occasion by conducting yourself in a manner that is respectful of your guests, the guests of others, of your fellow graduates, faculty and staff, and of your yourself. Violations of this policy will result in your being removed from the hall and denied permission to participate further in the ceremony. Thank you for your help in making this day meaningful to all.
Special Accommodations
Special seating can be arranged for students with mobility problems, and sign language interpretation is available for those with hearing impairments. Please call (530) 754-9666 as far in advance as possible.
Parking
Parking is free in designated areas for those attending the ceremony. Directional signs reading “commencement parking” will be placed at all entrances to the campus. A portion of lot #25 (the lot closest to the ARC Pavilion) is reserved for vehicles displaying disabled person placards or plates.
