College of Engineering UC Davis

Dean's Funding Application

The Dean provides funding for worthy undergraduate student projects and events. These can be individual, group or club projects and events. Projects and events funded in the past include:

  • Individual Project
  • Club event
  • Group Project
  • Conference/committee participation

Funding is awarded based the information submitted on the application. Students should make every attempt to solicit funds from their departments prior to requesting money from the Dean.

If your team/club receives any funding from the Dean, please submit a written update to him at the conclusion of the academic year (June). This report should briefly detail how the funds were ultimately used as well as provide the Dean with an update on the competition entered or event in which the team/club participated. ANY and ALL future funding from the Dean will be contingent upon the Dean receiving this report. You can use these examples of recent reports to help format/create your report (requires the free Adobe Reader):

Funding requests are made through an on-line application form. To access this form, you will need a password available from your MSO, Faculty Adviser or the Director of Development in the Dean's Office, Greg Gibbs. Requests should be submitted at least 15 business days prior to the event/project funding. Use the PDF version of the form as a worksheet to prepare your application (requires the free Adobe Reader).

If you require assistant from the Engineering Shops, you must also incude the estimated numbers of hours you will need for your project. If you are not sure how much time will be needed, you can contact the Director of EDDS, Jeff Feerer at jlfeerer@ucdavis.edu

It is important that you plan for all necessary costs in advance. Your MSO and/or Faculty Adviser should be able to help you with your budget.
