Professional & Leadership Development

SD&R offers professional and leadership opportunities through a cadre of programs and activities.

  • Scholars' Center
Funded by NSF CAMP, the Scholars' Center sponsors activities that recruit, retain and promote CAMP-eligible undergraduate students in engineering, sciences, technology, and mathematics fields and encourages them to pursue advance degrees.
  • Women in Engineering (WIE)
WIE supports female engineering students and encourages them to pursue graduate school. WIE offers activities and mentorship opportunities designed to increase their confidence, develop their leadership skills, and promote a community of leaders. WIE organizes annually activities such as the WIE Retreat and supports mentorship programs.
  • Engineering Joint Council (EJC)
EJC is comprised of representatives from 22 engineering student organizations. EJC acts as a liaison between undergraduate students and the faculty and administration. EJC organizes and sponsors professional and leadership student activities including the annual National Engineering Week held in February.
  • Industry Partners
Our partnership with leading industry encourages undergraduate engineering students to participate in professional and leadership activities such as site tours, summer internships, annual leadership conferences, and much more. Industry provides support for our student organizations and offers scholarships and professional development opportunities.
  • Research Opportunities
Programs such as CAMP support professional opportunities to enhance the undergraduate research experience.
