Mission:
The Student Development and Recruitment (SD&R) unit of the College of Engineering strives to broaden the undergraduate engineering experience by advancing the quality, diversity, and quantity of the next generation of engineering professionals who choose to enter the workforce with a baccalaureate or pursue advanced degrees.
SD&R accomplishes its mission through a framework of goals and strategies embedded within the UC Davis Vision, College of Engineering Vision, ABET, and Principles of Community.
Vision:
SD&R promotes educational excellence, professionalism, leadership, and diversity through a cadre of programs and activities that engages engineering students, faculty, staff, industry partners and collaborators.
Our programs are designed to:
- Facilitate and expand undergraduate research experiences to encourage advanced degrees
- Promote professional and leadership development
- Recruit, retain and advance academically talented and diverse undergraduate engineering students
- Expand and increase recruitment efforts of transfer students
- Facilitate faculty involvement through NSF proposal support
