Five UC Davis Students Receive “Special Merit in Research” Awards at 2006 CAMP Statewide Symposium
On February 24-26, 2006, 89 CAMP (California Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in Mathematics, Science and Engineering) researchers gathered at UC Irvine to present their research in engineering, sciences and mathematics fields. The Symposium recognizes annually special merit in research, honors student research for originality, and depth of understanding and likelihood of sparking further research. This year, 12 CAMP undergraduate researchers represented UC Davis at the CAMP statewide research symposium.
The participating UC Davis students included Lauren Geary (oral, biological sciences), Mychal Jennings (oral, physical sciences/engineering/computer science), Edgar Sanchez (oral, physical sciences/engineering/computer science), Laura Solis (oral, physical sciences/engineering/computer science), Mateo Chamberlain (poster, physical sciences/engineering/computer science), Brittany Gigliotti (poster, physical sciences/engineering/computer science), Gerardo Martinez (poster, physical sciences/engineering/computer science), Antonio Orozco (poster, physical sciences/engineering/computer science), Kelechi Chikere (poster, biological sciences), Elizabeth Ortiz (poster, biological sciences), Ynnez Gwye (poster, biological sciences), and Geoffrey Lovely (poster, biological sciences).
