Annual Mandatory Advising Check-in
We Advise, You Decide
Advising is a partnership. Your advising team is dedicated your academic success and are here to support you in achieving your academic, career, and personal goals. But ultimately, your success requires you to be an active participant in the advising process. To get the most out of advising, be sure you are ready to engage in a conversation and come prepared with questions. Remember, this is your education and it's your responsibility to take ownership for it.

What Happens if You Don't Satisfy the Annual Advising Requirement?
-
If you don’t see your advisor by the designated deadline either your hold will go into effect or a hold will be placed on your record, depending on your department. Once the hold is active you won’t be able to make any changes (add or drop) to your class schedule until the hold is removed and it may impact your ability to register for courses. We strongly recommend that you NOT wait until the deadline to get a hold cleared.
-
How do I View my Hold on My Student Record?
-
Advising holds show as alerts in Schedule Builder and OASIS. Carefully check the date of pending holds, which are informational only, highlighted in tan/light yellow, and do not prevent course registration. Current holds are highlighted in red and DO prevent course registration. Visit your department’s undergraduate advising website for specific instructions to clear the hold.
Here is a sample of how the alert will appear:
