Melanie Clague Named Executive Assistant Dean for Administration and Finance

Melanie Clague has been selected as the next executive assistant dean for administration and finance for the University of California, Davis, College of Engineering. She will begin her new role on August 1.

"Melanie’s combination of strategic financial leadership, collaborative approach and deep understanding of the college made her an excellent choice for this role," said Dean of Engineering Richard Corsi. "She has been a trusted advisor during a period of significant financial challenges and has demonstrated steadfast commitment to the success of our community. I look forward to working alongside her as we continue to advance and invest in our Next Level strategic vision and support the college’s mission and long-term success."

As executive assistant dean, Clague will serve as the college’s chief administrative and financial officer, providing strategic leadership for business and financial operations, including research administration, human resources, information technology, compliance and risk management. Working closely with college and campus leaders, she will help guide strategic planning and implementation, support effective administration and advance the college's research, education and public service mission.

Clague has more than six years of progressive financial experience in the College of Engineering. As senior director of finance, she stewards an annual budget of more than $200 million, supports eight academic departments and 14 Dean’s Office units in financial planning and resource management, and leads collegewide procurement activities.

Before joining UC Davis, Clague served as the director of operations for the Division of Extended Studies at Colorado State University Pueblo. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Northcentral University and a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University Pueblo.
