About the Speaker

Raeka Aiyar, Ph.D., is the Vice President of Scientific and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Outreach at the NYSCF Research Institute. She is a geneticist turned science communicator, with over a decade of experience in disseminating the impact of biomedical research to diverse audiences. Throughout her career, Dr. Aiyar has led several international, interdisciplinary collaborations in functional genomics, mitochondrial diseases, and synthetic biology. In her current role overseeing NYSCF's scientific communications and outreach, she drives communications materials and initiatives, leading discussions and event programming for scientists, students, and the public. She supports NYSCF scientists through communications training, collaboration building, and grants strategy. Dr. Aiyar oversees NYSCF’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) efforts across our affinity group program, communications, events, health equity research, and grantmaking.
