Dr. Christine King is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Manhattan College, her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California Irvine, and performed her postdoctoral and project scientist research at the University of California Los Angeles in the Wireless Health Institute and Center for SMART Health. Her current research focuses on engineering education for interdisciplinary teams, including medical, biomedical engineering, and computer science, for real-world industry and experiential learning applications. She also performs research on women’s healthcare medical devices for the preventative, partum, and post-partum applications. As part of her education research, she is the co-director of the Physician Innovator Training Program, a newly-formed mission based program for medical students to learn about entrepreneurism and engineering, the concentration director of the Biomedical Engineering Master of Engineering program, and the Share and Learn director of the Biomedical Engineering Education Community. For advancements in women’s health research, she is currently the director of the Dassault Center of Excellence in Women’s Health to develop digital twins for women’s healthcare and engineering education of the Dassault 3DExperience platform.
