Edwin Lindo, JD, is a Critical Race Theory scholar who asks the hard questions race and racism raise within medicine, law, and society. An Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, he is also Adjunct Faculty in Bioethics and Humanities, the UW School of Law, and Morehouse School of Medicine, and Appointed Faculty for the Weitzman Institute. He brings Critical Race Theory, LatCrit, and community organizing to health professions education — publishing, teaching, and building curriculum, and leading student and faculty development on race and equity in medical education, patient care, and research. He also works with the UW College of Engineering on pedagogical theory and with UW Bioengineering on critical thinking as a tool of teaching.
Edwin serves as Assistant Dean for Social and Health Justice in the UW School of Medicine's Office of Healthcare Equity. His scholarship spans the history of racialized medicine, social inequities, and critical pedagogies. He created and hosts The Praxis Podcast and speaks internationally on these issues.
With his wife, Estell Williams, MD, he founded Estelita's Library, a social justice community library and bookstore in Seattle (EstelitasLibrary.org), now developing 30 units of 100% affordable housing and a cultural center in Beacon Hill, Seattle.
