Priscilla Hwang, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Associate Member of Massey Cancer Center at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond VA. She received her BS degree in biomedical and electrical engineering from Duke University. After her bachelor’s degree, Priscilla was awarded a Whitaker International Research Fellowship before returning to Duke to pursue her MS and PhD in biomedical engineering as a NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Prior to joining VCU, Priscilla was an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow at Washington University in St Louis where she developed 3D microphysiological systems that integrate dynamic microenvironment cues to study cancer cell migration. Currently, the overarching research interests of the lab lie in investigating how microenvironment mechanical cues regulate cellular processes during collective migration, which is necessary for successful tissue development and regulates cancer progression. Priscilla is the recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, NIH R35 Maximizing Investigators Research Award, VCU National/International Researcher Award, and Rising Star Award from the Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering special interest group of the Biomedical Engineering Society.
