Burthia E. Booker, Ph.D., is a seasoned clinical trial and grants management professional with a doctorate in Biomedical Sciences, specializing in Biochemistry and Cancer Biology from Meharry Medical College. She completed her Ph.D. research on the signal mechanisms and physiological effects of Interleukin-34 in acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) models. Dr. Booker’s postdoctoral work included research on breast and colorectal cancer at LSU Health Sciences Center-New Orleans and oral tumorigenicity at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Booker has a robust background in clinical trial management and research administration. Before her current role as a Research Grants Manager for Susan G. Komen, she served as a Research Specialist in Research Congruency at the University of Houston, acting as a liaison between investigators and institutional funding and regulatory stakeholders. At Susan G. Komen, she manages the entire grants cycle for a wide variety portfolio of breast cancer researcher projects. Additionally, Dr. Booker is an expert Oncology IRB Member for Advarra and a grant writing consultant for Thorn Run.
