Dr. Ga-Young Kelly Suh joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at California State University, Long Beach as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2019. She obtained her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and was a postdoctoral fellow/research associate in the Department of Surgery – Vascular at Stanford University from 2011-2016. Dr. Suh has been a consulting/adjunct professor in the Department of Surgery – Vascular at Stanford University between 2016-2022. Dr. Suh’s research focuses on applying computational analysis to human data relevant to endovascular surgery with medical devices. Her research employs a multidisciplinary approach to recruit patients, manage clinical trials, acquire medical images, and develop tools to extract measurements for vascular surgeons and device manufacturers. During graduate studies, she applied computational fluid dynamics and optimization of boundary conditions to simulate blood flows from subjects with vascular disease. Her recent work includes the evaluation of in-vivo motion of vascular stents and surroundings using medical imaging and geometric analysis to find a predictor for surgical outcome. Up to date, she has published 34 peer-reviewed journal articles, 5 book chapters, and conference proceedings, and has actively contributed to the society of vascular surgery and cardiovascular implants as an organizing committee/board of director members of Cardio Vascular Implant Durability (CVID) Conference and active member of SVS and AHA.
