Adrianne Smits is an aquatic ecosystem ecologist interested in how geomorphology and climate control the movement of materials and energy through watersheds and food webs. Her work focuses on understanding fundamental physical controls on element cycles and food web processes to help us maintain productive, intact freshwater systems even as human impacts on these systems grow.
Adrianne previously received the NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Earth Sciences Division. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Aquatic and Fisheries Sciences, and her B.S. from Yale University in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
