Picnic Day is a UC Davis "open house" tradition to showcase the great breadth and high excellence of what UC Davis and the city of Davis have to offer. This year's theme, “Growing Together,” highlights the growth of UC Davis since its start in 1908 as the University Farm School and the concurrent growth of the City of Davis, which is celebrates its centennial this year. Because Picnic Day also falls on Saturday, April 22, the same day as Earth Day, the theme also recognizes UC Davis’ commitment to sustainability and celebrates our recent title as the greenest campus in the world.
