About the Speaker: Dr. Yun Fang is currently an Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. Dr. Fang is the co-director of the NIH T32 Research Training in Respiratory Biology Program and Associate Director of the Physician Scientist Development Program at the University of Chicago. His research program focuses on cardiovascular diseases and targeted nanomedicine. Dr. Fang was trained as a vascular biologist and bioengineer at the University of Pennsylvania before being recruited to the University of Chicago. His research has been continuously supported by the NIH and the American Heart Association since 2006. Dr. Fang's work in precision nanomedicine and cardiovascular biology has resulted in multiple patents and publications in high-impact journals such as PNAS, Circulation Research, eLife, Science Advances, Nature Metabolism, and Nature. He is the recipient of the Leif B. Sorensen Faculty Research Award at the University of Chicago and gave the 2020 Lowell Langille Vascular Biology Lectureship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Fang has trained >20 pre- and postdoctoral scholars; nine of his trainees were supported by fellowships from NIH or the American Heart Association, and two were supported by an NHLBI K99/R00. Dr. Fang is an elected fellow of the American Heart Association and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He has also received the NIH NHLBI R35 Emerging Investigator Award and the American Heart Association Established Investigator Award.
