This seminar will include a presentation by Tessa Fojut, Senior Environmental Scientist at the California State Water Resources Control Board, on “Connecting Surface Water Quality Monitoring and Regulations”. Tessa’s presentation will include an overview of the Water Boards' Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program, how water quality monitoring data are used by the Water Boards to guide development and implementation of water quality regulations. Case study of Central Valley Regional Board pyrethroid pesticides water quality regulations that were adopted by the Regional Board in 2017 and the continued research and monitoring that is occurring to implement the regulations.
Bio
Tessa Fojut (she/her) is a Senior Environmental Scientist in the Office of Information Management and Analysis at the State Water Resources Control Board. She is the quality assurance officer and database manager of the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program (SWAMP), overseeing quality control and data management. Tessa has worked for the Water Boards for 12 years and previous positions included working on pesticide TMDLs, recycled water and contaminants of emerging concern. She received her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry and completed postdoctoral research in environmental toxicology at UC Davis.
