Jay Lund Elected to 2022 Class of AGU Fellows

Jay Lund, Distinguished Professor in the College of Engineering and co-director of the Center for Watershed Sciences, was among the 2022 class of fellows from the American Geophysical Union (AGU) having been recognized for his outstanding achievements and contributions to earth science.

Lund joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1987. His major research interests are in systems analysis, economics and management of large-scale water systems, integrated urban water supplies, and water transfers and markets. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.

AGU fellows are recognized because of their remarkable innovation and/or sustained scientific impact. Lund has led the development and application of large-scale modeling for California’s water supply, as well as other modeling studies for the management of flood control and environmental purposes throughout his career.

AGU fellows also serve as global leaders and experts who propel people’s understanding of geosciences. Lund is consistently a go-to expert on watershed sciences locally and nationally, for both community stakeholders and media outlets.

“Their research, which pushes our boundaries of knowledge to create a healthy planet and beyond, is an inspiration to us all,” said Susan Lozier, president of the organization.
