Jordan Dade Receives Outstanding Staff Advisor Award
by Bonnie Dickson
College of Engineering Undergraduate Advisor and International Academic Counselor, Jordan Dade, has been recognized by UC Davis and by the Office of Academic Advising with the 2017 Outstanding Staff Advisor Award.
Dade is respected by both colleagues and students for her above-and-beyond-commitment to advising. In her nomination of Dade, Undergraduate Program Advisor Natasha Coulter remarked that Dade’s approach to her work leads to strong and lasting bonds with her students, who consistently return to her for guidance and show their appreciation through kind words and cards.
“Jordan excels in what we all hope to achieve in this career. She makes a difference,” Coulter says.
In addition to her superb advising, Dade is known for her advocacy of international student success. Dade has worked diligently to ensure that campus resources and course offerings meet the specific needs of the international student community. She has dedicated time to spreading the word about the needs of international students to the broader advising community and has influenced campus-wide change on policies to improve the international student experience. She was previously recognized for these efforts at the UC Davis Academic Advising Conference in May.
Dade joined the College of Engineering in October 2013 as the College’s first international student advisor. She earned her bachelor’s degree in advertising from Pepperdine University and is currently pursuing a master’s in academic advising from Kansas State University.
The Outstanding Staff Advisor Award recipient is nominated by colleagues and students and is selected from a group of advisors who are nominated across the UC Davis campus.
