Marina Leite Elected to Optica 2025 Class of Fellows

Optica has elected Marina Leite, a professor of materials science and engineering at the University of California, Davis, to its 2025 class of fellows.

The society works to promote the generation, application, archiving and dissemination of knowledge in the field of optics and photonics. Its fellows are selected based on several factors, including outstanding contributions to research, business, education, engineering and service to Optica and the community.

Leite was selected for this honor for her contributions to transient photonics and optical properties of metal alloys, representing a significant advancement in engineering and science research.

"I am thrilled by this recognition,” said Leite. “Our achievements in transient photonics using earth-abundant and non-toxic materials were heavily possible due to the UC Davis Chancellor's Fellow program, which allowed me to explore a new area of research. I am eager to continue designing and implementing optical devices with engineered responses for applications ranging from photocatalysis to optical sensors.”
