Abstract

Stantec will be presenting on the nonlinear seismic deformation analysis for 100+ m tall central core rockfill tailings dam in South America. This project was unique in having a controlling subduction slab event with Mw 8.0 and PGA 0.82g. This project involved development of site-specific modulus reduction and damping curves for the low-permeability core material which was crucial to modeling the seismic behavior of the dam.
