Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Jeremy Munday recently received a $2.2 million grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to deepen our understanding of the quantum forces at work in nanotechnology.
The ASABE major award recognizes excellence in microirrigation research, development, extension, education and/or industry. Microirrigation is a low-pressure, low-flow-rate type of irrigation that can reduce the likelihood of overwatering a landscape. Kisekka’s group is known for its work in precision irrigation.
Chemical Engineering Distinguished Professor Karen McDonald was honored for her outstanding contributions to the field of biochemical engineering with the 2022 Daniel I.C. Wang Award from the American Chemical Society’s Division of Biochemical Technology (ACS BIOT) and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ Society of Biological Engineering (AIChE/SBE).
In 2012, UC Davis Computer Science Distinguished Professor Prem Devanbu and his collaborators Zhendong Su, Abram Hindle, Earl Barr and Mark Gabel changed the field of software engineering with their paper, “On the Naturalness of Software.” Ten years later, the paper’s legacy has been recognized with a Most Influential Paper Award from the 2022 International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE).

Four UC Davis engineering professors earned National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Awards in 2022, joining 18 other UC Davis faculty who have received CAREER awards in the past two years.
For the first time in university history, the W.M. Keck Foundation has awarded two research teams at the University of California, Davis, with $1 million each in the same award cycle. One grant will support the creation of new technology for communications and medicine that operates at wavelengths that are not currently utilized. Associate professors Josh Hihath and Sebastian Gomez-Diaz in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering are leading the research.
Two professors from the University of California, Davis, have been elected as members of the National Academy of Engineering. Professors Daniel Sperling and Kate Scow join 13 other current UC Davis faculty members who are in the academy.
