Research

Engineering a better world for all calls for solutions of a different caliber, demanding innovation across disciplines using a design-centric approach.

We employ and develop intelligent systems and automation and tools at the nano- and micro-scales that will revolutionize energy systems, strengthen climate resilience, advance human health and transform mobility to bring a sustainable, healthier and more resilient world within reach.

The Next Level Research Awards focus on funding bold, interdisciplinary research in support of the college’s Next Level strategic vision.

Meet the 2023 recipients:

Education

Our students are inspired continuously from their first day on campus until they cross the stage at graduation and beyond. We equip our under-graduate and graduate students to be agile leaders who are empowered to better society and the planet.

More than 150 students across 38 teams participated in the inaugural Engineering Dean’s Undergraduate Challenge this spring. Hands-on design challenges included an escape room, scavenger hunt and egg-a-thon. We also launched E-SEARCH, a research and mentoring program for undergraduate and Ph.D. students.

Community

Our strategic vision for a next-level community and organizational culture aims to harness the power and benefits of a diverse ecosystem of engaged colleagues working in harmony to advance the college’s mission.

Fall Welcome kicked off the academic year with fun, food and festive entertainment from the “Technically Hip,” a jam band comprised of faculty, staff and other academics.
