Richard Corsi Appointed College of Engineering Dean

Richard Corsi, a leading expert in the field of indoor air quality, will be the next dean of the College of Engineering. Corsi is a UC Davis engineering alumnus (M.S. 1985 and Ph.D. 1989, civil and environmental engineering) and was a 2016 recipient of the college’s Distinguished Engineering Alumni Medal.

Currently, he serves as dean of the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University. He is professor emeritus in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at University of Texas, Austin and served as department chair from 2013 to 2017.

“Dr. Corsi’s academic leadership experience will be valuable in advancing the accomplishments and reputation of the College of Engineering. Furthermore, his expertise in air quality research will enhance our reputation as a leader in engineering a better world and place us at the center of timely national conversations around indoor air quality,” said Jeffery C. Gibeling, who has been serving as interim dean since January 2021. “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Corsi back to the college and I look forward to supporting his transition into this new role.”

Corsi’s appointment as dean will begin on September 15, 2021.
