UC Davis Office of Research Celebrates $1 Billion in Funding

Speaking event features four College of Engineering faculty members

The UC Davis Office of Research celebrated an unprecedented milestone in university history on Nov. 1, bringing together changemakers and leaders from across the campus and the University of California system to acknowledge surpassing $1 billion in research funding.

The milestone is one achieved by less than 20 public universities across the nation.

Joining Chancellor May, Provost Mary Croughan and Vice Chancellor for Research Prasant Mohapatra in making remarks during the speaking portion of the evening in order were: David Block from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Priya Shah from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Karen Moxon from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Stephen Robinson from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

The four representatives of the College of Engineering were among a select group of nine researchers and professors at UC Davis who were invited to share their most bold and grand visions but with the caveat that they would be equipped with only a microphone to do so - no visual aides and more importantly, no conclusions. Simply their most ambitious ideas for the direction of their chosen fields.
