Roland Faller Named Executive Associate Dean

Chemical Engineering Professor Roland Faller was named the College of Engineering’s next executive associate dean, effective July 1. The appointment is in addition to his current service as associate dean for facilities and capital planning, as well as graduate studies.

Raissa D’Souza Appointed Associate Dean for Research

Raissa D’Souza, a professor in the Departments of Computer Science and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, has been appointed as the new associate dean for research in the College of Engineering. D'Souza assumes the role at an exciting time as the college continues to advance its research profile and enterprise.

Dr. Jovana Veselinović Receives the 2022 Zuhair A. Munir Award

In five years in the chemical engineering graduate program at UC Davis, Dr. Jovana Veselinović conducted groundbreaking interdisciplinary work on using nanoporous gold to detect biomarkers of disease while falling in love with Davis. She is this year’s recipient of the College of Engineering’s Zuhair A. Munir Award for best doctoral dissertation.

Meghna Srivastava Receives Jeffery C. Gibeling Award for Best Master’s Thesis

Meghna Srivastava is this year’s recipient of the of the College of Engineering’s Jeffery C. Gibeling Master’s Thesis Excellence Award, which recognizes the M.S. student who has submitted the best master's thesis. Srivastava earned her M.S. in materials science and engineering under the mentorship of Associate Professor Marina Leite.

2022 Graduate Student Excellence Awards

The second annual awards recognize the outstanding achievements of the College of Engineering’s master’s and Ph.D. students in research, service, safety and diversity, equity and inclusion. Recipients receive a $500 award and will have their name added to a permanent display in the Kemper Hall lobby.

Through its research, teaching and mentorship, the center plans to train the next generation of coffee professionals while improving the entire industry and making it more sustainable.

UC Davis College of Engineering 2022 Undergraduate Rankings

The 2022 U.S. News and World Report rankings of America’s Best Colleges show that UC Davis’ College of Engineering is moving up the list. The College of Engineering was ranked 27 out of 206 universities that offer doctoral programs, which is up one place from last year.
