Coffee Needs Research: UC Davis’ New Coffee Center Dedicated June 25th

Inside the New UC Davis Coffee Center

The UC Davis Coffee Center is the world's first academic research center focused on coffee, aiming to do for coffee what UC Davis has done for beer and wine. Through its research, teaching and mentorship, the center plans to train the next generation of coffee professionals while improving the entire industry and making it more sustainable.

UC Davis College of Engineering 2022 Undergraduate Rankings

The 2022 U.S. News and World Report rankings of America’s Best Colleges show that UC Davis’ College of Engineering is moving up the list. The College of Engineering was ranked 27 out of 206 universities that offer doctoral programs, which is up one place from last year.

Richard Corsi Appointed College of Engineering Dean

Richard Corsi, a leading expert in the field of indoor air quality, will be the next dean of the College of Engineering. Corsi is a UC Davis engineering alumnus (M.S. 1985 and Ph.D. 1989, civil and environmental engineering) and was a 2016 recipient of the college’s Distinguished Engineering Alumni Medal.

UC Davis College of Engineering Announces Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee

In March 2021, Interim Dean Jeffery C. Gibeling announced the formation of the College of Engineering Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee for staff and faculty. The mission of the college DEI committee is to advise the dean and college leadership team on issues of equity, diversity and inclusion as they relate to faculty, staff and students within the college.

AvenueE Joins the College of Engineering

AvenueE is a program designed to help community college transfer students smoothly transition to UC Davis, and ultimately, a career in engineering or computer science. It aims to increase participation of women and underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), with the goal of creating a new generation of promising STEM talent and leadership.

Data Science Major Coming in Fall ’22

Recognizing that modern data science goes beyond any one discipline, the newest major at UC Davis will pull together courses from several departments to provide foundational data science skills that students can apply to a broad range of specialties. UC Davis will debut its new interdisciplinary data science major in fall 2022, providing a career pathway for undergraduates who plan to become leaders in this cutting-edge field.

UC Davis Center for Neuroengineering and Medicine Aims to Improve Quality of Life for All

With an increase in cognitive and neurological disorders such as dementia, stroke and Alzheimer’s, researchers worldwide are actively seeking pathways to help people restore neural function and improve their quality of life. The UC Davis College of Engineering announces the launch of the UC Davis Center for Neuroengineering & Medicine (NE&M), an integrated, multi-disciplinary effort that seeks to repair, restore and augment human capacity to benefit society.
